THE Brunei Methanol Company (BMC) is still open for job applications for Bruneians who are interested in joining the industry.
This was announced by the Minister of Energy Pehin Datu Singamanteri Kolonel (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohd Yasmin Hj Umar, during yesterday's Legislative Council meeting. He said that the number of local Bruneians that are currently employed by the plant amounts to 179 people, and it will increase to 187 people next month.
"There is still vacancies for citizens who are interested in joining the methanol plant," he said. This was in relation to a question raised by Legislative Council member Dato Paduka Hj Yunos Mohd Noh, who asked about the job opportunities available at the Brunei Methanol Plant and how many Bruneians are currently employed at this point in time.
The launch of Brunei's first methanol plant has paved the way for more opportunities in the downstream oil and gas industry that will boost occupancy of the Sungai Liang Industrial Park (Spark).
BMC, Spark's first occupant, is hoping to take hold of a three to four per cent share of the Northeast and Southeast Asian market. The Brunei Times
