AN OMANI company is collaborating with local firm Shinba Edaran (B) Sdn Bhd in the implementation of Phase 2B of the Business Licensing System (BLS) project.
Shinba Edaran signed a three-year contract last week, in which the company and Omani-based Bahwan CyberTek (BCT) was awarded the tender to handle a section of the second phase of BLS.
BLS is a joint initiative of Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) to solve the labyrinthine process of doing business in Brunei, and includes 13 agencies working to bring together 13 business licensing processes into a single on-line window.
Saiffuldillah Hj Othman, Country Manager of Shinba Edaran, yesterday confirmed that Shinba Edaran has partnered with BCT to handle the integration of 13 licensing government agencies' back-end systems, also known as Phase 2B of the BLS project.
Phase 2B will integrate Phase 2A to the agencies' backend systems where processing of applications will be done by officers at their respective agencies and, upon completion of the application process, push the data or information to the BLS automatically and electronically, allowing the streamlining of multiple processes at one time.
"BCT is our subcontractor for this project where we will use their technology for the implementation of Phase 2B," he said.
Speaking to The Brunei Times, Saiffuldillah said the Omani company will deploy its flagship product Cuecent Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) which will be used to facilitate the integration between the various government agency systems, thereby easing the business licensing process for both local and international business entities wanting to invest in Brunei.
Shinba Edaran is a joint venture company between Brunei firm Shinba Technology and Malaysian-based Edaran IT Services Sdn Bhd.
Formerly Edaran Komputer Sdn Bhd, Edaran IT Services is a dominant leader within the Malaysian ICT industry since its incorporation in 1986 and is part of the Edaran Digital Systems Berhad Group a company publicly-listed on the Main Board of Bursa Saham Malaysia.
BCT is a leading IT Product and Solutions company based in Oman with more than 1,300 professionals excelling in engineering and product development, middleware and integration solutions, business process management, banking, government, oil and gas and supply chain management solutions, business intelligence, business process outsourcing, and infrastructure management solutions.
In a press statement, BCT Group Director and CEO Durga Prasad said, "We are very happy to partner with the Government of Brunei on this e-government flagship project. This would not only bolster the strong tie-up that Sultanate of Oman has with Brunei, but would also encourage local business houses in both the countries to exchange ideas, creating more business opportunities."
