ROYAL Brunei Airlines (RBA) will be operating extra flights to Taipei, Incheon and Narita, following its appointment as the official airline of the Royal Trophy Europe versus Asia Golf Championship.
RBA yesterday said that the extra flights are scheduled to accommodate golfers flying in to the country for the competition, which will be held from December 14 to 16.
RBA's online booking engine currently shows only Taiwan and Tokyo as options, but no flights are available with dates entered.
The airlines' Corporate Communications Department said however, the flights will be open to the public, as there will be additional seats available on the extra flights.
"RBA is still in the midst of finalising the packages and pricing for Narita, Incheon and Taipei, which they will be announced to the public shortly," RBA said.
The airline, on August 2, 2012, announced its appointment as the official airline for the Royal Trophy.
The sixth edition of the championship will be held at the Empire Hotel & Country Club with two-time Masters Champion José Maria Olazábal and 35-time tournament title winner Naomichi Joe Ozaki as Captains for the European and Asian Teams respectively.
Managing Director of the Royal Trophy Lincoln Venancio said that RBA's partnering with the trophy to be held in the Sultanate was a "natural alignment".
Meanwhile RBA Deputy Chairman, Dermot Mannion said that the Royal Trophy is one of the most prestigious golfing events in the world and it is a great honour for the airline to be part of this particularly special edition. "We look forward to welcoming members and players from all around the globe to enjoy golf in the uniquely lush and tropical environment of Brunei," Mannion said. Goh De No The Brunei Times
