YESTERDAY marks another step forward in the preparation of Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference 2009 (Bridex 2009).

The Bridex Committee have started working, planning and preparing for Bridex 2009 at the official site of the newly constructed Exhibition Centre at Jerudong.

"Now with the office moving into the site it signifies the reality that the exhibition is getting nearer," said a representative from the Bridex organisers adding that after all the build-up from the past months, the exhibition is finally coming to a realisation.

This is the starting point where all the decisions and planning for the Bridex 2009 will be executed.

The Exhibition Centre itself is both a work of art and a great achievement by the team of people who have made it what it is—a state of the art world class standard exhibition centre.

Md Faizal Hj Mohd Sany, Project Architect Manager of Arkitek Opfis stated that the company had been involved from the beginning of the project.

"It took us one day to prepare the concept design of the building and one month to complete the architectural drawing for the tender of the building," he said.

What is impressive is the fact that the magnificent exhibition centre first started construction way back in 2008 last year and is now nearing completion with just a few minor constructions to be done, which is considered to be an amazing feat achieved by this company.

"The whole concept of the Exhibition Centre is a contemporary design with the basis of the purpose of the actual site in mind," said the Principal Architect of Arkitek Opfis, Masri Hj Mohd Taha

"The venue of the site itself is beautiful so we incorporated multiple views into the design of the buildings (so that it) looks magnificent from every angle," he added.

He went on to say that upon full completion of the centre, it would act as a versatile venue for various types of occasions such as exhibitions, conferences just to name a few especially with an exhibition space covering an area of 10,000 sq metres.

Members of the Bridex organising committee and support staff were taken on a tour of the new site. They were divided into two groups, each covering the west and east areas of the vast new Exhibition Centre.

Recognising and remembering the key areas such as the VIP building, the exhibitions site and other designated areas are all key information to ensure the efficacy and success of Bridex 2009.

The organisers of Bridex reminded its members to be ever ready and especially now that they are working at the actual site of Bridex 2009.

They were expected to be more prepared to make the region's premier defence security event, comprising top level delegates from around 60 countries, which is also the focal point for the world's leading defence manufacturers and suppliers to showcase the latest in defence technology, a success and one to be remembered by the organisers as well as the foreign participants of Bridex 2009. The exhibition will be held from August 12 to 15.
