JULY 15 is an auspicious day for the people of Brunei. It marks the 66th birthday anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Since His Majesty ascended the throne in 1967, the citizens and people of Brunei have enjoyed progress and prosperity under His Majesty's rule. Guided by his vision and strong-willed leadership, His Majesty rules the country with a deep sense of responsibility and duty towards the nation's growth.
His Majesty has tirelessly enhanced the country's image and friendly ties abroad while maintaining the rakyat's welfare back at home.
Since His Majesty's accession to the throne, Brunei has overcome numerous challenges, with astounding improvement in the quality of health, welfare and education.
Among the facilities which have been provided include mosques, suraus, balai ibadat, higher educational institution, schools, hospitals and health clinics, to name a few. In his titah yesterday, His Majesty has announced projects that will further propel Brunei's development and economic prosperity.
On top of His Majesty's contributions through his government, the monarch and the royal family have the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, a foundation that acts as the arm of the royal family's personal contribution to the community and national development. The deeds it undertake include funding of housing, providing relief for disaster victims and it even runs a primary and secondary school.
As Brunei celebrates His Majesty's 66th birthday, the country unites to hail the monarch who has contributed so much to building the nation and uplift its citizens, who look forward to living under the continued prudence and just reign of the Sultan. May Brunei prosper further under His Majesty's wise reign.
