Saturday, July 24, 2010

"DRUG Abuse, No Use", banners, stickers and posters in the Science College rang out on their premises on July 18 as their Anti-Drugs Family Carnival pulled hundreds of visitors.

Based on drug abuse prevention activities organised by several government departments, the Science College's Students Council and Per Group Helpers put together the Anti-Drug project aimed to help the nation to resist the influence of drug abuse and smoking. Along with cooperation with private companies, the project also included a close relationship with the Narcotics Control Bureau which even had their own booth on the day.

The whole day was filled with activities, exhibitions, competitions and shows that reinforced the message of living healthy lifestyles. There was even the completion of gigantic anti-drugs banners, two pieces of 12m long white cloth carrying anti-drugs messages and filled with handprints and signatures from visitors. Although part of the funds collected during the carnival is going into the Science College's welfare fund and also to the Students Council and peer Group Helpers for future activities, a percentage also goes out to Pusat Ehsan Al-Hajjah Maryam.
