Ramadhan falls on Saturday
BY CONSENT of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei, Muslims in the country will begin fasting on Saturday, as the Ramadhan moon could not be sighted at all four assigned places of the Sultanate yesterday evening.
Bukit Shahbandar in Jerudong, Bukit Ambok and Padang Tembak Bukit Agok in Tutong and Bukit Lumut in Belait were the places dedicated for the moon-sighting activity.
Equipped with sophisticated technology at the Bukit Shahbandar moon-sighting area, senior officials from the State Mufti and the Syariah Court, and support of the Survey Department and Ministry of Religious Affairs, were unable to sight the new moon.
Deputy Minister of Development Dato Paduka Dr Hj Mat Suny Hj Mohd Hussein attended the moon-sighting activity in Jerudong. (ADI1)
