MAS offers low fares again

Saturday, July 5, 2008

MALAYSIA AIRLINES (MAS) is offering its Wave 4 Everyday Low Fares (ELF) for travel to destinations in Malaysia and the region from yesterday to Sunday at the Penang Matta Fair 2008.

Its regional general manager for Malaysia and Asean, Salleh Tabrani, said the fares, starting from as low as RM9 ($3.75) one way, were for travel from Aug 10, 2008 to March 31 next year for all ELF destinations.

But in the case of ELF for Perth and Brisbane, the travel period is from Nov 1, 2008, to April 30 next year, he said.

Apart from ELF, the national carrier is also offering Golden Holiday packages through its agents at the event being held at the Penang International Sports Arena to promote the domestic travel and tourism industry and boost passenger loads.

"We are bringing our ELF to customers at the Matta Fair in Penang for them to experience how easy it is to book our value for money airfares," Salleh said in a statement.

He said for the ELF, customers needed to observe only three simple steps.

"They book online through www.malaysiaairlines.com at the eight kiosks we have placed in the venue, purchase tickets early at least 30 days before flight departure and remember that flight dates cannot be changed nor be refunded. All fares exclude airport tax and surcharges," he added.

Salleh said a team of around 30 staff was being deployed at the venue to guide customers in deciding and purchasing the low fares which translated to attractive savings for their holiday plans.

The staff, he said, would also guide customers to participating travel agents for purchase of the Golden holiday packages.

Salleh said as a key partner of Matta, the airline was collaborating with the organiser for the success of the regular event as it was an important catalyst for continued growth of the travel and tourism industry.

He said a total of 12 domestic travel packages were on offer under the ELF Wave 4 promotion, and these were valid for travel from Aug 1 to Dec 31, 2008, but subject to seat availability.

According to Salleh, the package prices depend on choice of hotels and travel period as there are a total of 62 hotels.
