Protect nation from negative influences: HM

HIS Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in his titah to mark the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam's birthday anniversary, exhorted the nation to protect Brunei's standing by resisting negative influences that can not only tarnish the good image of the country, but also squander time and money.
The sultanate should also not let baseless whims get in the way of its desire to development rapidly, His Majesty said in the telecast titah.
"Once Brunei is free from any forms of undesirable behaviour, it will doubtless gain a glorious and untarnished image, and at the same time become an example throughout the world," said His Majesty.
"This is our hope, and hopefully one granted by Allah (SWT), by the syafa'at (intercession for the believers) and blessings of the last Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam."
His Majesty said that promotion and practice of good morals are a form of contribution of a Khairu Ummah, or the best Ummah, a desired status bestowed by Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for those who follow the sunnahs and teachings of the Prophet.
The monarch also reminded Muslims in the country to keep in mind the contributions, teachings and leadership of the Prophet, which His Majesty noted made the world peaceful and prosperous with the Prophet's guidance.
Among other things, Prophet Muhammad had ensured that Muslims were united by making them brothers and sisters in Islam without consideration of their skin colour or race.
"If this leadership style is adopted, Muslims will never be at conflict or war among themselves, their unity will become much stronger and prosperity will be secured more easily," said His Majesty.
