HM's visit helps firm Brunei, Cambodia ties

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam last night attended the State Banquet hosted by King Norodom Sihamoni in honour of His Majesty's visit to Cambodia. The ceremony was held at the Royal Palace Preah Reach Damnak Serel Mongkol.

His Majesty was greeted by King Sihamoni at the Salon Royal of the palace. This was followed by a royal audience before they proceeded to the Banquet Hall.

During the State Banquet, King Sihamoni delivered his welcoming speech which was followed by a toast and the playing of Brunei Darussalam's national anthem.

In his speech, the Cambodian monarch said since the restoration of peace and stability in the kingdom, the Cambodian people and the government have made great efforts towards the rehabilitaition and reconstruction in all the fields of their national development in order to provide a higher standard of living, happiness, peace and stability across the country.

"These many achievements of our people have been greatly assisted by the moral, financial and technical support from many friendly countries, including the strong support extended to us by Brunei Darussalam," the monarch added.

"The visit by Your Majesty is an important event which will contribute to the strengthening of the bonds of friendship and solidarity linking our two people and countries."

The Bruneian monarch in his titah expressed his gratitude for the Cambodian King's kind invitation to visit the country and for the warm and joyous welcome of the Cambodian people.

The monarch stated that besides maintaining the nation's ancient cultural heritage, King Sihamoni brought into the kingship remarkable experience and knowledge through the combination of outstanding academic career and remarkable artistic and professional experience.



His Majesty assured that Brunei Darussalam will continue to work with Cambodia as partners for the region's future.

Guests, including cabinet ministers and senior government officials, attended the banquet.

His Majesty will visit the Special Airborne Forces 911 at Kambol today.
