Learn from the Prophet
Saturday, March 31, 2007
WE ARE thankful that once again we are able to commemorate the birthday anniversary of our Prophet Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam.
This is an event that will be remembered until the end of time, and one that will continue to inspire us and the whole world.
In a world continuously facing turbulence, we are reminded keenly of the Prophet (peace be upon him) as an incomparable saviour, one that had managed to bring the world and all that is in it into peace and prosperity.
His contribution in this matter can never be denied. If he were still amongst us now, the present circumstances might never have taken place.
Let us remind ourselves of the Prophet (PBUH) and at the same time learn his "leadership style" which had managed to save his followers, by, amongst others, making people brothers in Islam regardless of skin colour or race.
If this leadership style is adopted, Muslims will never be at conflict or war among themselves. Their unity will become much stronger and prosperity be secured more easily.
Why aren't Muslims making this their goal?
If Muslims are stronger and more prosperous, will that not facilitate their contributions to the world, for the shared peace and happiness of all?
The more than one billion Muslims should not be helpless as if they are flotsam in the ocean, but should possess certain qualities and should become more pro-active in order to escape from hardship and find contentment.
Let us all as Muslims together build sincere ambition to find a source of living that suits all.
We should follow Rasullullahi Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam's example towards progress. He did it by first nurturing the individual before cultivating his Ummah based on the concerns of the here and the hereafter.
This style of development will not present a hindrance to anybody; in fact, its benefits are all-encompassing and can be enjoyed by all humankind.
For all Muslims in general, any of Rasulullah's sunnahs or teachings must be observed without qualms or hesitancy.
If we are able to do so, it would mean that we have managed to ascend to a desired level bestowed by Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala, that of Khairu Ummah or the best Ummah.
Our hearts will always be light and happy if we are to realise and follow this.
In fact, isn't being recognised by Allah (SWT) (as a true Ummah) a greater and more genuine acknowledgement? Allah (SWT) after all knows more about those that have been recognised.
Therefore, we must all maintain this achievement that has been bestowed by Allah (SWT), and prove that we are indeed the best as individuals and as the best contributors towards good on Allah (SWT)'s earth.
Our contributions need not be in the form of money, but can also include prayers, thoughts and commitment in all good deeds.
Promoting the practice of good conduct and behaviour can also be considered a contribution. Rasullullah Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam himself said he had been chosen to cultivate the perfect conduct.
Brunei must be resolve to maintain good conduct and close our doors firmly on bad influences as we do not want to be burdened by undesirable phenomenon. We shall not waste our time and our money (over those bad influences). We want to rapidly develop, without having to tend to useless affairs.
Once Brunei is free from any forms of undesirable behaviour, it will doubtless gain a glorious and untarnished image, and at the same time become an example throughout the world.
This is our hope, and hopefully one granted by Allah (SWT), by the syafa'at (intercession for the believers) and blessings of the last Prophet, Sayyidina Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam.
This is an unofficial translation of His Majesty's titah on the occasion of Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) birthday anniversary.
