'Learn from Prophet's struggles'

THE Public Service Commission Office together with the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) yesterday organised a Maulud Celebration for the Prime Minister's Office and its departments at the Chancellor Hall, UBD.
Guest of honour at the event was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar, Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office.
The welcoming speech was given by Dato Paduka Haji Wahid bin Haji Salleh, Secretary of the Public Service Commission Office and also the Chairman of the event.
In his speech, the Chairman said that struggle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) should be appreciated and serve as an example for any civil service issues that the staff and officers might face in any aspect of their lives.
The combined effort of the event is to benefit UBD's proficiency in Islamic studies. In accordance, a special talk was given by Professor Madya Dr Haji Mohd Som bin Sujimon, Dean of Islamic Studies at the Institute of Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien, which centred around the theme of the event, "Strengthening the Commitment to Islam in Civil Service".
The event's purpose was not only the remembrance of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but also to spread the feeling of goodwill within the officers and staff of the Prime Minister's Office. Also present were Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab bin Haji Juned, Chairman of the Public Service Commission; Permanent Secretary, Deputy Chairman of the Public Service Commission, Deputy Permanent Secretary and various senior officials from the Public Service Commission and the Prime Minister's Office. This annual event is one of the many activities by the Prime Minister's Office.
