Minister attends IT meet in Seoul

BRUNEI-KOREA relations are expected to receive a boost following the Brunei Darussalam's Minister of Communications' working visit to South Korea.
The Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong, returned yesterday from the Information Technology Ministerial Conference 2007 and a series of working visits in Seoul.
His delegation included senior officers from the Ministry of Communications and the Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam, as well as Dato Paduka Hj Harun Hj Ismail, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to South Korea.
This year's IT Ministerial Conference was themed "Digital Convergence: Challenges and Opportunities" and was attended by around 20 ministers from Asia, Europe and Africa, who were then brought to inspect the latest Korean innovations and technologies at the Korea information technology show.
During his stay in Korea, the Communications minister visited government agencies responsible for broadband services development, postal services and e-government implementation.
The minister also discussed with the Korean Minister of Information and Communication the implementation of a memorandum of understanding signed by Brunei and Korea in September.
The delegation has hinted at a number of resulting initiatives involving the exchange of expertise and information on policies and technologies, joint research projects, and consultancy work.
