MINISTER of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awg Hj Mohammad Hj Daudleft for Singapore yesterday to attend the Fifth Asean Ministerial Meeting for Youth (Ammy V) there.
The theme for this year's meeting, "Youth: Creating Our Future Together", focuses on encouraging youth to recognise the potential and talent they have within themselves to create a strong and vibrant future for their communities, according to the official People's Association Youth Movement website.
Ammy V is the platform for Asean youth ministers to establish ties, set directions and collaborate on youth initiatives in Asean.
The four-day meeting which began on April 24, involves youth participation in the discussion of issues that matter to them in a concurrent Youth Caucus organised by the People's Association Youth Movement and the National Youth Council of Singapore.
The "My Wish for Asean" contest is also held in conjunction with the meetings to allow youth to express their views on four areas of Asean development, namely education, employment and entrepreneurship, engagement and environment.
The youth representatives will hence present a summary of their discussions consolidated at the Caucus at the Ammy V meeting.
According to information released by the Brunei Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, this will be an opportunity for youth ministers to engage in dialogue with the youth representatives on issues they have raised.
Besides the aforementioned meetings and discussions, Ammy V will also showcase a host of activities such as video presentations and exhibitions that have been prepared in line with this year's theme.
