PHILIPPINES Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Her Excellency Virginia H Benavidez, yesterday reiterated her call to all registered Filipino absentee voters to take part in the May 14 senatorial and party-list elections.
In a press release issued yesterday Benavidez informed all registered voters, who have not received their electoral mails to claim their ballots from the Philippine embassy.
"The Philippine embassy's special ballot custody and reception group will now issue ballots to registered voters upon presentation of valid identification documents such as passports, ICs, voter's ID, etc," Benavidez said.
"We are in the home stretch of the overseas absentee voting and we are doing all things possible to encourage our registered voters to cast their ballots," added the ambassador.
The Philippine embassy overseas absentee voting centre will be open on Monday-Sunday from 8.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-6.30pm.
The centre has extended the closing time of its business hours in the afternoon to 6.30pm to give Filipino registered voters more time to cast their ballots.
Benavidez emphasised that no ballots, whether delivered to the embassy personally or by mail will be accepted after 3pm on May 14, the day of the elections.
