VW's Touareg V6 hits Brunei road running
Saturday, May 19, 2007
VOLKSWAGEN'S sole distributor in Brunei has sold 13 units of the German carmaker's recently introduced model, the Touareg V6 TDI Diesel.
Only two units are up for sale at the moment in the sultanate, said Peter Loh, a sales representative at Maju Motors Sdn Bhd.
The distributor officially launched the new model yesterday the Maju Motors Showroom in Beribi.
"Our first shipment of the new Volkswagen was for 10 units, which was all sold out. Then the second shipment of five units came in and we have two units left," said Peter.
"The reason why these vehicles are so popular is because of the pricing of the vehicle. A V6 Touareg costs about $83,000 on the road, which is considered incredibly reasonable for an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle).
"On top of that, it has a keyless vehicle control, which means that a key doesn't need to be in the ignition to start the car up, and also it has a six-airbag safety feature," he added.
"Most of the customers for this vehicle are family oriented," said Peter.
With its high powered engine, and its spacious interior, this car is not just elegant but practical, according to Volkswagen product brochures.
One of its other intelligent safety features include the new ABS plus system which can cut braking distance by 20 per cent on rough ground. Luxuries that the vehicle includes is a lumbar adjuster on the driver's seat, which allows the driver to adjust the seat to improve posture and provide a more comfortable drive. The launch yesterday saw a variety of guests waiting to view the new Touareg.German Ambassador to Brunei Conrad Cappell also made a trip down to the showroom to test drive the new vehicle. The Brunei Times
