IN LINE with TAP's (the Employee Trust Fund) five-year plan themed: "Building a Premier Organisation", Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohammad Hj Daud, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports urged members of the agency to move towards becoming more customer-oriented and with a vision of valuing performance that will produce a more communicative team.
The minister said this will empower employees to achieve their aspirations, ambitions and desire to succeed in the employee's career development.
At TAP's annual get-together yesterday the minister, who is also a member of TAP's board of directors, stated that "all TAP employees should be more determined to perform the best they can with other elements in management such as strategy, structure, process, human resource and so on, will be performed as best as possible, systematically and in order for the organisation".
TAP's five-year strategic plan was implemented at the beginning of this year as a guideline for the agency to reach its goal until the year 2011.
The gathering that was held at the Jerudong Park and Country Club were attended by 95 staff members and board of directors.
"The annual event which was started two years ago is aimed at getting staff and members of the board of directors to get together and to show TAP's top management appreciation of the employees' performances ," said Rosli Hj Haron, the Acting Human Resource Manager for TAP.
The guest of honour, Pehin Dato Hj Mohammad in his motivational talks to the TAP staff members touched on the plans ahead and the changes that have been made so far.
"This annual event can be considered as a 'happy hour' between management, staff and chairman, to engage all of them with each other in an informal environment," said Rosli.
One of the programmes at yesterday's event was a prize presentation to winners of badminton and ten-bowling championships of TAP's first annual inter-house tournament. The tournament was one of TAP's external activities to boost staff morale and camaraderie.
