Minister calls for committee members to work together

Thursday, June 7, 2007

THE Minister of Home Affairs made an appeal to leaders at the grassroots level to get themselves involved in the forthcoming 61st birthday celebrations of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in the Brunei-Muara district.

Participation of the public and private sector, non-governmental organisation and other institutions and individuals will further enliven the atmosphere of His Majesty's birthday celebrations, especially the get-together ceremony with citizens and residents, said Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Hj Mohd Yusof.

Speaking during a meeting with the executive committee of His Majesty's birthday celebrations for Brunei-Muara district yesterday, he hoped that members of the executive committee will continue to nurture the spirit of cooperation with other committees in organising activities, through constructive discussions.

Emerging problems must be resolved through negotiations and followed up with action, to ensure that the proceedings of the event will be in order and establish mutual understanding in strengthening the existing cooperation, he said.

He believes that the executive committee will raise the quality and standard of organising the event, based on the 'post-mortem' meetings to review and study the problems and shortcomings in the past years.

The minister also called on all citizens and residents to hoist the national flag as a mark of respect and to celebrate His Majesty's birthday from July 1 onwards.

The meeting at the Brunei-Muara District Office is aimed at taking a closer observation and monitoring the progress of the latest preparations of the event in the district.

Dato Paduka Hj Yussop Bakar, Brunei-Muara district officer, was the chairperson of the meeting.

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Dewa Pahlawan Dato Paduka Hj Dani Hj Ibrahim, permanent secretaries, members of the working committee, as well as head of villages and penghulu mukims.

Pehin Dato Hj Adanan has previously held meetings with executive committees of the Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts.
