SCHOOL holidays for students means taking time out. But not for all, especially those who have exams waiting around the corner.
Julia Nazri, a Form Five student at the Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School is taking the opportunity of the break by carrying out revision work.
Speaking to The Brunei Times during her tea break at McDonalds Restaurant in Gadong, yesterday, she said: "Tough luck! No fun for exam goers."
It was the same story for her friend, 15-year-old Hjh Hanisah Hj Sharif Hanisah and Julia have been doing light revision at home mixed with some light recreation at The Mall, Gadong. They relished the time they get off but they were quite focused when it came to their future.
However there are some students who preferred to make the most of their holidays.
Hassanolhayat Shamsulhayat, used his time off by going to Netcom, a popular cybercafe where he met up with friends and fellow gaming-enthusiasts. A student from PGGMB Secondary School, he said, "There is nothing else I'd rather be doing."
He spends most of the day playing Counter-Strike, a popular multiplayer shooting game that is enjoyed by the younger crowd.
When asked why he chose to be in Netcom from 1pm until 10pm, he replied by saying it was a cheap hobby, and it keeps him out of trouble.
With pressures for a promising future, young students in the country are facing a light responsibility to ensure they mix work and play, even during a time of rest. The Brunei Times
