THE Charity Briyani Rice 1429 organised by D'Other Office Café & Bristo was a hit as people dropped by the cafe in Kampung Delima to buy the Briyani rice in their bit to contribute to a good cause.

"The main aim for this charity sale is solely to help the less fortunate community in the country," said the cafe's Director, Hj Saini Hj Chuchu in his opening speech after the recitation of the al-Fatihah.

The profits will be handed over to the Pusat Ehsan, registered orphans under the Baitul Mal and also to the less privileged families who reside around the villages of Pancha Delima, Delima Satu, Delima Dua and Anggerek Desa.

The guest of honour was Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Alimin Hj Abdul Wahab, the acting chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam, Bengkurong.

The initiative was the first ever held by the cafe and was a collaboration by Ranoadidas.com, Brunei's number one social events blog and also the current and former participants of the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (SSYEAP). The owner of the blog and the SSYEAP participants were on hand to give their support and aid in sale.

The charity drive began at 11am and ended around six pm. Other supporting organisers include Kingston Beverage and Creamery Sdn Bhd and Mubarak Book Emporium.
