ROCK Paper Scissors (RPS) Enterprise, which is run by locals Bahrumnuddin Jali and business partner Naqiyah Dato Isaaq, is more than a regular clothing store.
They have made several innovative changes in how locals see a business making use of their identity yet maintaining its uniqueness and integrity to its customers which stretches as far as the United States courtesy of its Facebook page.
In tune with the aura of the clothing store itself the annual inline street skating competition was held yesterday at the Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium in hopes of adding a member to their company's team to participate in an extreme championship which will be held in Singapore.
The participants were aggressiveness yet graceful as they expertly showcased their extreme skills through various tricks and stunts during the annual inline street skating competition organised by RPS enterprise clothing store.
Thirty-five participants tried to top each other's tricks and maneuvers to win the chance to represent Brunei in the Singapore Extreme Championship which will take place on August 28 until August 30. It is one of the biggest skating competitions in the region organised by ESPN.
The contestants came from all over Brunei and were divided into two groups. The best overall skaters from each group will battle it out to become the champion. They were judged based on the difficulty level of the trick, the successful completion of the trick and overall performance.
In the end, Md Shopian Said rose as the winner out of all the hopefuls and won the prize of an all expense paid ticket to Singapore representing the RPS team representing Brunei in the Singapore Extreme Championship.
The competition is an annual event and the third of its kind to be held in Brunei. The set up was just a simple platform with railing attachment on the sides but what these highly extreme individuals pull off in every attempt of their tricks was something to behold—the contestants gave their all which shows their passion for the sport.
The panel of judges were the local pioneers of the extreme sports with various experiences under their belt. Bahrumnuddin is an enthusiast himself stating that he was involved in the skate scene when it began gaining popularity in the country back in the early 90's. With Md Shopian winning the competition, the company hopes that it will be able to promote Brunei and at the same time exhibit the talents of Bruneian skaters to the world. The Brunei Times
