Mobile users being charged for cancelled services

Friday, November 2, 2007

MANY mobile users are facing a new problem of being charged for the services they have cancelled or asked to be deactivated. Of late, the number of such complaints have increased with many post-paid subscribers receiving bills for the services they have ordered to be deactivated.

However, when The Brunei Times contacted two main mobile service providers they admitted to having received such complaints but added the problem was limited to just a few individuals.

A customer service representative at B-Mobile said that although they have had a few cases with customers complaining of being charged for the terminated services, all of them have been dealt with to the satisfaction of customers.

The representative also advised customers that whenever they receive such bills, they should visit any of the B-Mobile counters, with the proof of services asked to be deactivated.B-Mobile has two ways of checking the problem. First, a system check to ascertain there was no system error and second through SIM card to confirm that the service has been deactivated, the representative added.

A representative from DST Group said such incidence occur when the request for service deactivation or disconnection is not done properly.

"To deactivate or disconnect any service, customers must fill a form provided by DST," he said, adding that verbal request can cause problems and therefore it is not accepted by the DST.

He said by asking to deactivate a particular service through application form will help the DST to investigate the matter properly and rectify the problem.
