Brunei set to showcase first Health expo

EXPAND and enhance your knowledge on health in the upcoming health convention at the International Convention Centre, organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) in conjunction with their 100 years of Health Service in Brunei Darussalam celebration.

The MoH will have their own special pavilion amongst the 111 booths set up for the first Brunei Health Expo at the Plenary Hall.

The conference will commence on Thursday, November 15, after the official opening ceremony.

Managed by Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd, the expo has attracted seventy-three local and foreign companies and organisations from the public and private sector who will be exhibiting products, services and information related to health and the well-being of the general public.

The expo aims to educate and instil awareness among the public on the primary health services offered by the ministry. In addition, it intends to showcase the many milestones on medical improvement achieved for the past hundred years.

Apart from the exhibition, there will also be a three-day conference for health professionals and medical students.

The symposiums and plenary sessions will feature local and foreign speakers from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and USA.

Some of the themes for the symposiums will be on enhancing the quality of health care services, health emergency and crisis, dental health and strengthening the management of the emergence of non-communicable and major diseases prevention of old and new infectious diseases.

The "Public Health Emergency Operation Plan" and "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight" will also be launched in the late afternoon.

The public will be able to attend the health forums on the last day on women's health (pap smear and breastfeeding), HIV/Aids, integrated health screening, oral and renal diseases as well as the dangers of smoking.

Side events include demonstrations on physical activities such as Tai Chi, Kendo, Fencing and Karatedo as well as a treasure hunt and colouring competition for young visitors.

The health convention, that will be held from November 15 to November 18, will be open to the public between 12pm to 6pm on the first day and from 10am to 6pm in the following days.The Brunei Times
