AN INTERNATIONAL and local industry exhibition opens today with 50 participants from Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia and Poland set to explore trade opportunities, launch new products, and develop a more integrated network of economic cooperation.
Some 60 booths will be on display from local and foreign companies spanning almost the entire ground floor of The Mall shopping complex in Gadong.
The event, endorsed by the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, will see local companies like Interhouse Marketing, Westin Automotives Sales and Services, Mashor Food, Freme Travel Services and the Empire Hotel & Country Club showcasing their products and services to attract new clients and strengthen existing networks.
Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources Pengiran Hjh Mariana Pg Dipa Negara Lela Diraja Pg Hj Momin will be the guest of honour.
Product areas range from agriculture, arts and handicrafts, fisheries, food and beverage, tourism, healthcare, manufacturing to wood products. Foreign companies include Malaysia's Sunway Medical Centre, Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board, Indonesia's Snow is Beauty and Poland's Ekos.
Organiser's Cityneon Displays and Construction calls the exhibition "Brunei's biggest" and the country's "only trade and consumer exhibition open to all levels of businesses locally and internationally".
The sultanate's last major international trade exhibition, Brunei International Trade Exhibition, was held in 2004, which drew more foreign participation than this one.
