PSD holds Korban meat distribution

THE Public Service Department held a korban ceremony yesterday at the Civil Service Club, where it distributed korban meat to its officials and staff.
The ceremony yesterday was the third one to be held by the department, and was organised by its social and sports body, Berkesan.
In addition to the distribution of meat, the event also featured a religious talk by Ustaz Hj Mail Hj Awang Besar, an invited speaker from the Islamic Da'wah Centre.
Attending the ceremony as the guest of honour at the ceremony was Awang Sa Bali Abas, Director General of Public Service.
Also present were Deputy Director-General of Public Service, Hj Muhammad Taib Datu Hulubalang Hj Abdul Wahab, directors, senior officials and staff.
In his speech, the event's chairman, Hj Abdul Rahman Hj Muhd Husain, the Director of Development and Management, said that the ceremony is part of the department's corporate social responsibility, and hoped that it would strengthen social relations between all officers and staff of the department and bring them together in a spirit of community.
It also aimed to demonstrate the corporate spirit and the leadership quality of the departments' officials and staff.
Participants at the ceremony were enlightened on the origin of korban and its benefits for the Muslim society, which was the focus of Ustaz Hj Mail's talk.
He said it was the duty of all Muslims to help and support their less fortunate and underprivileged brethren.
Later, the guest of honour distributed the korban meat to the recipients.
