Korban celebration continues

KORBAN celebrations continue to take place throughout the nation, and yesterday saw various government agencies holding their respective ceremonies.
The Ministry of Communications including all departments under it organised a Korban ceremony held at the Land Transport Department. Present as guest of honour was the Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong.
Also present was Deputy Minister Dato Paduka Hj Yusof Hj Abdul Hamid and the Permanent Secretary, Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yusof Hj Mohd Hassan as well as the ministry's heads of departments, senior officials, officers and staff.
The Director of Land Transport Department, Hj Mohd Alimin Hj Mohd Tanjong, in his capacity as the chairman of the organising committee, in his speech stated that a total of eight cattle were sacrificed this year with the contributors comprising staff from the ministry. The meat was distributed to over 200 recipients.
Meanwhile, the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation also organised a Korban ceremony held at its main office in Jalan Kumbang Pasang. Attending as guest of honour was the foundation's Managing Director, Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hashim Hj Daud.
The Ministry of Finance also held a similar ceremony at its headquarters at the Commonwealth Drive, with the Minister of Finance II, Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Rahman Hj Ibrahim, attending as guest of honour.
In Temburong, the district's Religious Affairs Department also distributed sacrificial meat to officers and staff as well as invited guests. The Brunei Times
