PROMISES of a larger and more organised Consumer and Food Fair 2008 was fulfilled this year at the launching ceremony of the fair that was held yesterday afternoon at the International Convention Centre.
The opening of the fair, which boasts over two hundred booths, was officiated by Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Adanan Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Haji Mohd Yusof who signed the signature plaque.
In his capacity as guest of honour at the event, the minister also cut the ribbon, officially opening the Consumer and Food Fair to the public.
Executive director of organisers Sunlit Advertising Sdn Bhd, Dato Haji Danial Haji Hanafiah, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony in which he expressed his hopes in making the fair "a truly international event".
Dato Haji Danial further mentioned that, aside from promoting local and foreign trade development and cooperation, the fair has also facilitated rapid development of the country's increasing demand for specialised exhibitions.
After officiating the opening of the exhibition, Dato Haji Danial accompanied the minister on a tour of the fair where the minister and representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and Home Affairs and Sunlit Advertising explored and tested the various local products displayed.
Crowds of people both young and old alike proceeded to explore the exhibition which bore beauty and fashion products, food and beverages, home appliances, furniture, banking and insurance products, information technology and electronic products, to name a few.
The fair also caters to children and young adults in which the public will be able to enjoy other activities such as a children's colouring contest, treasure hunt, cyber games Pro Evolution Soccer and Guitar Hero III competitions and participate in the new record-breaking event for colouring in the longest drawing.
The public will be able to enjoy these promotions and games until the Consumer and Food Fair 2008 ends on January 6, which is open daily to the public from 10am to 9pm.
