A HOME for every Bruneian and one that is under $60,000 for a three-bedroom house sounds like a dream come true yet yesterday that dream is one step closer to becoming a reality.
With the signing of a development agreement between Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) and Supercrete Trading Sdn Bhd, the bank has agreed to facilitate a new innovative home financing scheme entitled 'Al Bai Bithaman Ajil Baiti Financing — BBA Baiti Financing' which among others is designed to provide opportunities for customers to own their own homes at a very affordable price.
According to a press statement from BIBD, by applying through BIBD BBA Baiti Financing, eligible customers are able to obtain a modular house that is affordable, of good quality, fast and can provide the opportunity for long term investment.
Modular houses, also called pre-built homes, is a housing construction technology adopted by Supercrete Sdn Bhd recently which promises to build and deliver a fully completed home to customers within six to eight weeks.
Costing over $20,000 for a simple one bedroom house to over $50,000 for one having three bedrooms, the agreement between the two companies is aimed at assisting the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to enable all Bruneians to be able to afford their own homes.
The agreement yesterday was signed by Hj Muhammad Syaippudin Hj Abdullah, BIBD Managing Director and Hj Awang Hj Ali, Chairman of Supercrete Sdn Bhd.
On hand to witness the signing was Wong Nyen Fook, Managing Director of Supercrete Trading Sdn Bhd and Hj Mohd Rozaiman DSLJ Hj Abdul Rahman.
The main objective of the agreement is to ensure that customers who apply for the BBA Baiti Financing scheme will have low monthly repayment on the financing and flexibility with a period of between 10 and 15 years.
Customers are also given the option to select their choice of modular house in accordance with BIBD's design partnership with Supercrete Trading Sdn Bhd.
Currently a sample home display unit has been constructed at Supercrete's office at Simpang 99, Bengkurong where Supercrete boasts a construction time of four weeks to put up the sample home which is open to the public for viewing.
