'Zikir' held to mark Prophet's birthday

THE recitation of Zikir Syarafil Anam in conjunction with Prophet Muhammad's (Peace be upon him) birthday continued last night at the Muhammed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampung Serusop.
After the Isyak prayers yesterday, a group comprising departments under the Ministry of Religious Affairs namely the Syariah Affairs, Haj Management Department, Mosque Affairs Department, Islamic Studies Department, Islamic Da'wah Centre and the Islamic Religious Council.
Joining the congregation were staff and students of the Seri Begawan Religious Studies University College.
The delegation was led by the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman.
Also present were the permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretary of the ministry, Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Rahman Haji Mohiddin and Dato Paduka Haji Ishaaq Haji Abdullah.
Mosque-goers who were present during the mass prayers were also seen attending the event to join in the celebrations.
As one of the activities to celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad, the recitation of the Zikir Syarafil Anam began on March 9, 2008 as it was officially opened in the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and will see various government ministries and its departments participating on allocated days in both mosques culminating up to March 20, 2008.The Brunei Times
