A NUMBER of activities have been lined up for students who are having their first-term school holidays from March 20-30.
The Islamic Da'wah Centre will be organising a Nadwah Kemurnian Rohani or spirituality course for male students in the lower secondary level (F1-F3). The four-day course will begin on Monday, at the centre in Kg Pulaie.
The annual course is jointly organised by the Courses Unit of the Courses and Women Guidance Section and the Counselling and Career Guidance Unit at the Ministry of Education's Schools Department.
The schools chosen to participate in the programme were Masin Secondary School (Brunei-Muara), Muda Hashim Secondary School (Tutong), Perdana Wazir Secondary School (Kuala Belait) and Sultan Hassan Secondary School (Temburong). Each school will select five students, including one member of the Peer Guidance (PRS).
The objectives of the programme are to instill the spirit of loving religion, leader, country and living in a society. It also aims to raise awareness on the importance of knowledge and to improve the quality of learning for students as well as perform good deeds in line with the teachings of Islam as a way of life. Throughout the programme, the participants will be taught on various subjects and several activities will also be included.
Topics include time management, practicals of prayers and others related to improving their practice of religious obligations. Participants will also pay a visit to the Youth Development Department.
Meanwhile, the Youth and Sports Department is organising a camping activity for youths aged between 11 and 14. The programme is to encourage love towards flora and fauna in Brunei's tropical rainforests, as well as to stress the importance of protecting the environment among the participants.
An expected number of 60 students from 12 selected schools will be involved in the challenging activities.
The camp will take place from March 24-27 at the Kampong Parit Recreational Park in Mukim Pengkalan Batu.
