SCHOOL LEADERS have to be more open to ideas and change their attitudes accordingly to comply to the new education system (SPN21) being introduced in the country.
"Principals and headmasters/mistresses must be bold and creative in their methods of arranging academic programmes that are in line with the new system for the full benefit of their students," said the Minister of Education Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Rahman Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib.
It is hoped that the system will bring about a more extensive and higher quality education that will provide the students with an opportunity to achieve their full potential, said the minister during a working visit to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (Ripas) Secondary School yesterday.
In the briefing held for the school's principal and department heads, the minister voiced out his concerns regarding the students' academic achievements based on the results of their public examinations.
The minister stressed on the need to come up with more effective ways of remodelling the educational landscape by creating new methods of implementing the process of teaching and learning that can assist students in developing their full potential.
"The fast-paced development of the world demands school leaders to be more innovative, perceptive and quick to come up with fresh new ideas for developing their students," said the minister.
The minister's arrival to the school yesterday was greeted by the school principal Cikgu Roslin Suhailee who took the visitors on a tour of the school facilities after the briefing session.
