Rush to know about 3.5G broadband

Saturday, May 3, 2008

THE DataStream Technology's (DST) Group Roadshow for Go! Broadband attracted large crowds of people wanting to know more about the new product, the 3.5G broadband service.

Many of the visitors at the roadshow were excited about the product and anxious to register for the new service, while others were still toying with the idea.

"It's better to get it now when it is still free rather than later," said a worker in a private sector firm.

He said in his line of work, the upgrade from 2G to 3G was important to enable him to keep up with current events.

An employee at an insurance company said he was going to register with the service provider as his business required fast Internet connections.

"We need to connect to our other seven branches and the Internet is the backbone of a company," said the insurance officer.

Among the visitors at the roadshow were families with children queuing up to register for the broadband.

A woman who spoke to The Brunei Times said the service would help her children in their studies.

"I personally don't really use the Internet that much," said the woman who declined to be named.

Despite the positive response from the visitors of the DST Go! Broadband, there were many who were still hesitating.

"We're looking at the pricing at the moment before deciding," said another woman.

At one of DST counter's at Gadong Properties, several customers were already waiting to register for the Internet broadband. "We had our hands full the whole time," said a DST officer.

All DST's Prima and Easi customers are able to upgrade their SIM card to 3G at all DST Group Counter outlets throughout the month of May.

On Thursday, DST's new 3.5G broadband service was officially launched by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. The Brunei Times
