Malaysia Airlines to offer low-fare promo in Sultanate
Thursday, May 8, 2008
BRUNEIANS can look forward to fly to Southeast Asia routes for low rates as Malaysia Airlines launched a low-fare promotion scheme which is likely to be offered at the Sultanate.
On May 5, Malaysia Airlines or MAS launched its Everyday Low Fares promotion scheme, which covers domestic flights in Malaysia.
According to an officer from the airline's branch here in the Sultanate, the official "go-ahead" for the promotion to be advertised here was still being anticipated.
The announcement would be made from the airline's headquarters in Malaysia.
Travellers can expect similar pricing of tickets to those currently being advertised by the airline for its domestic flights.
MAS initiated the Everyday Low Fares programme in conjunction with its recent transformation into a Five-Star Value Carrier, promising to deliver "five-star quality services at low prices".
The move was under the carrier's initiative to reduce costs and to return to profitability.
One million zero fares have been offered to customers on the airline's routes within Malaysia.
Thirty per cent of the seats on domestic flights have been allocated for the promotion.
The allocation corresponds to surplus seats, which would usually have been unsold, if not for the Everyday Low Fares promo.
The promo aimed to showcase the newest products in the five-star services available to Malaysian Airlines customers. These services included "refreshments on board, convenient schedules, on-time departures, 20kg baggage allowance, allocated seats and many other benefits".
Everyday Low Fares also promises to deliver customers "value for money".
However, customers were subject to several terms and conditions, in order to be eligible for the promotion.
Travellers have to do their booking online, through www.malaysiaairlines.com. They also have to book their flights at least 30 days before flight departure.
The tickets were also non-refundable and all flight dates were final once purchased.
Booking for the Everyday Low Fares is open from May 5 to May 19.
Flights also had to be booked for travel from June 10 to December 14.
Customers were advised to book as early as possible to enjoy the zero fares.
