Dos and don'ts briefing for Ford Adventure participants

Thursday, June 26, 2008

AS THE countdown for the Ford 4x4 Adventure to Labuan begins, about 40 car rally enthusiasts gathered last night at the Ford showroom for the

briefing about dos and don'ts before departing for Labuan tomorrow.

The organisers briefed the participants about precautions to be taken by them which included fuel supply, as drivers are supposed to buy fuel and bring at least two jelly cans of extra fuel for their vehicles. The maximum number of passengers allowed per vehicle is three persons.

The "offroad adventure" also includes camping, where the participants will spend the next two nights and enjoy a barbecue dinner by the beach-side.

During the briefing, the participants were also told of the beach rules and regulations to be observed by them. According to local beliefs, swimming was not allowed after 6pm.

For the campsite, participants were told to bring necessary items such as sleeping bags, tents, camping equipment and other tools needed for setting up camps.

Participants were also reminded to be punctual on Friday as the ferry will be departing on the allocated time.

For those under doctor's prescription were urged to bring enough medical supplies.

Once in Labuan, the group would also be given a tour of the bird park, marina and a historical area by the Labuan Police Department.

A Bruneian motorcycle team, the Scooter Group, would also meet with the Ford vehicles during the tour.

Another highlight of the expedition was the Labuan 4WD (four-wheel-drive) show, where a group of all-terrain vehicles will show the Ford owners how to navigate an off-road track.

The Ford owners will also have the opportunity to try the track either with their own vehicles or one of the company cars, if they wished to do so.

The expedition will make its way back to Brunei by June 29, 2008.

A total of 13 cars have signed up for the offroad adventure. (SHS1)
