Briefing for new civil servants

THE Ministry of Communications yesterday hosted a visit by some 30 newly appointed officers from various government agencies in the country.

Part of their month-long programme, the working visit was to familiarise the officers to the workings of departments under the ministry.

The visitors were briefed on the roles and responsibilities of the Ministry of Communications, and the departments under it, namely, the Marine department, Land Transport department, Civil Aviation department, Postal department and Ports department.

With a vision of "Towards a Sophisticated Society and Excellence in Communications for Enhancing National Competitiveness", the ministry identifies and implements the basic purposes and actions in fulfilling the development of the nation in order to reach its objectives and bringing about mobilisation of the services offered in diversifying the country's economy.

Indirectly, the ministry also contributes to the conducive climate for the expansion of industries and participation of private sectors which is dominant, firm and regional as well as globally competitive.

The briefing commenced with welcoming remarks by an admninistrative officer at the Ministry, Abdul Ghani Hj Othman. Also present were the section's directors and senior officials at the ministry.

Concluding the visit was an answer and question session between the new officers and representatives from each department. (NFA1)
