RESEARCH and consultancy firm Oxford Business Group's (OBG) publication on Brunei's economy is well on schedule and expected to be launched in October.
Most of the preliminary research has been done and the book, The Report: 2008 Brunei Darussalam, will include an interview with the Minister of Communications on the prioritisation of the logistics and communication sectors, said OBG Editorial Manager Brunei Steven Dijkhuizen yesterday.
The economic review will be the second OBG publication on Brunei, following the launching of the first book last year.
Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Abu Bakar Hj Apong yesterday briefed OBG representatives on policy developments within the ministry and its five strategic areas to boost Brunei's communications sector.
The briefing also touched on the extension of public-private partnership models and initiatives to boost Brunei's logistics sector and human capital development.
The ministry is finalising the legislation to boost Brunei's logistics industry because there are opportunities and the ministry is close to the development of a free trade zone, the minister said.
Laura Herrero, country director for OBG Brunei said that the ministry's initiatives, including public-private partnerships and the airport masterplan, will help create new spin-offs for the country's SMEs. (RSH1)
