Zikir plays vital role in nation building

ZIKIR plays a very important role towards nation building in Brunei Darussalam.
This was highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Education, Pg Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Mohammad Pg Hj Abd Rahman, who is also the chairman of the Knowledge Convention 2008 Committee.
The Deputy Minister, in his welcoming remarks explained the objective of the seminar and the origins of its concept of Negara Zikir.
The theme itself originated from the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at last year's Hari Raya Aidiladha where he aspired for the country to one day become a Negara Zikir.
Yesterday, marked the first day of the presentation of working papers for the Knowledge Convention 2008.
The premier paper was presented by the State Mufti of Brunei Darussalam, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abd Aziz Juned aptly titled 'Negara Zikir'.
In attendance of the event was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office along with His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik.
This year's Knowledge Convention 2008 seminar is held for a two-day period where invited speakers range from the Deputy Minister of Education himself as well as the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awang Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman.
The event was held at the International Convention Centre. (AIS1 & AAB1)
