THE Brunei Darussalam Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (BAMLS) will be organising the 12th Asean Conference in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from August 22 to 24 at the International Convention Centre (ICC).
The three-day conference brings the theme "Striving For Excellence in Laboratory Practice" and is co-organised by Ministry of Health Brunei Darussalam.
Prior to the start of the conference, a one-day pre-conference workshop will also be held on August 22.
The chairman of the organising committee, Dr Hj Mohamad Hj Kassim, has invited members of Asean Association for Clinical Laboratory Sciences and other healthcare professionals to participate in the conference.
He also expressed hope that the conference would provide the opportunity for participants to learn about cutting-edge development in laboratory medicine, share scientific expertise relevant to diagnostic work in medicine and public health areas, and discuss the latest advances and state-of-the-art technology in clinical laboratory sciences.
"Besides providing showcases of exciting advance technology in laboratory medicine, this conference will also strengthen the cooperative relationship among relevant organisations through exchange of information and mutual discussion," he said in a statement.
"I believe, this conference will contribute towards upgrading the role of medical laboratory professionals in the region and at the same time educating the public about the value of our profession to healthcare."
Previously, Brunei hosted the 8th Asean Medical Laboratory Technology Conference (AMLTS) in 1999.
The conference was jointly organised by the Ministry of Health and the BAMLS.
The theme for the conference was 'Challenges & New Frontiers In Laboratory Medicine Towards The New Millennium'.
