HM concludes Sarawak visit

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam concluded a two-day visit to Kuching, Sarawak, on Monday evening. A doa selamat was recited prior to His Majesty's departure.
Present to bid farewell to the monarch at the Kuching International Airport were Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak, His Excellency Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Hj Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hjh Norkiah, the Chief Minister of Sarawak, the Right Honourable Pehin Sri Hj Abdul Taib Mahmud and Datuk Amar Puan Seri Laila Taib. Senior government officials of Negeri Sarawak were also present.
While in Sarawak, His Majesty attended the 2008 Sarawak Regatta that took place at the Kuching Waterfront. His Majesty was accompanied by Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak and the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak for the flagging of a men's category event. At the end of the event, His Majesty consented to present prizes to the Sarawak Regatta 2008 winners.
On the second day of the visit, the monarch visited the Borneo Highlands Resort located in Banjaran Padawan, 80km outside Kuching city in Sarawak, where he was received by resort developer Tan Sri Lee Kim Yew. His Majesty was taken on a tour of the 2,000-hectare resort.
Afterwards, the monarch attended a luncheon at the Astana Negeri Sarawak hosted by Yang Dipertua Negeri Sarawak. His Majesty also visited the Petra Jaya Integrated Stadium where he was welcomed upon arrival by Dato Sri Hj Mohammad Asfia Nasar, the Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly.
His Majesty then proceeded to the Sultan Tengah Mausoleum where His Majesty was received by the Right Honourable Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, Sarawak's Minister In-charge of Islamic Affairs. (ODM1)
