Thursday, August 14, 2008

THE Bandar Seri Begawan Municipal Board once again held a competition for the best-looking stalls involved in the recent night bazaar in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 62nd birthday festivities.

This is the third time the board organised such an event, which aimed to encourage participants to beautify their food stalls so as to enliven the atmosphere of the festivities and to create a place for the public to get together.

"What's important to us is the customer service and a layout that could attract all kinds of people, both the young and the old," said Pg Hj Haris Pg Hj Duraman, the owner of the winning stall, Riza Fudhlana Food Catering.

He listed several factors that won him the award for the best stall customer service, a comfortable and attractive layout as well as his family's support. "It was a family effort on our part. My eldest daughter helped with the decoration, and her younger sister helped with the technical parts like the making of banners for the stall," he related.

The food stalls were judged on their design and presentation, said the acting senior officer of the Municipal Department cum chairman of the event, Hj Jamaluddin OKMD Hj Saman.

A total of 15 stalls participated in the competition. Handing over the prizes was guest of honour Pg Hj Mohammad Ali Pg Hj Othman, the chairman of the Municipal Department. Sharifah Kustinah Hj Malai Yahya came second place while Hj Azaman Hj Mohammad Daud was third. (SHR1) The Brunei Times
