Thursday, August 21, 2008
GOOD news for local shoppers: Brunei is gearing up for the return of the annual Brunei Grand Sale (BGS) from August 22 to October 5.
The 45-day shopping festival will be back for the 14th consecutive year and will be launched by the Permanent Secretary of Prime Minister's Office, Hj Murni Hj Mohamed, this Thursday at the Yayasan Sultan Hj Hassanal Bolkiah in the capital.
Organised by Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE), the yearly shopping sale provides customers with the opportunity to enjoy amazing discounts and special offers on items ranging from food items to electronic items at 459 shops, supermarkets and department stores nationwide.
A participating departmental store will be offering attractive discounts from 20 per cent and above, while a participating shop will have discounted prices of no less than 10 per cent of its entire stock.
In conjunction with the BGS 2008 launch, a "Motor Car Show" and other related activities will also be launched at the same venue where 10 car dealers are partici-pating.
Themed "Bargain prices to boost sales and hence, economic growth", the annual project will contribute to spur economic activities in the country through attractive sales and promotions and encourage citizens, residents and tourists to shop locally, therefore reducing the outflow foreign exchange.
The public are encouraged to support BGS 2008 in order to stimulate and promote the sale. However, for any complaints with respect to BGS, please call JPKE hotline number at 2230223 during office hours or visit their website at www.info@jpke.gov.bn. (JQR1)
