THE Ministry of Health yesterday launched its Vision 2035 and Health Strategy to further strengthen Brunei's health system and ensure effective enforcement of its policy guidelines.
Themed "Together Towards A Healthy Nation", the Vision 2035 and Health Strategy identifies and provides a number of the ministry's strategic themes, including its comprehensive healthcare system that emphasises service par excellence, embraces and practises healthy lifestyle, sustainability through resource optimisation, innovation and excellence, effective policies and regulations that ensure protection for all and transparent and proactive governance.
"These strategic themes have focused efforts in achieving significant, measurable improvements of the people's lives," said Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman in the Vision 2035 and Health Strategy booklet. "This is an effort towards strengthening our health systems as prerequisites to ensure efficient and high-quality health services in Brunei Darussalam," he added.
The ministry aims to provide a more comprehensive healthcare to the population, as well as a holistic approach in the provision of healthcare, focusing on promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative measures.
It also hopes to achieve service excellence by providing consistent good quality service and safety to ensure that patients, families and community are given the fullest and compassionate care.
The ministry will also upgrade its core competencies to ensure professionalism and ethical standards by means of continuous professional development and collaboration and partnership with other agencies and organisations.
In its quest to produce a nation that embraces and practises a healthy lifestyle, the importance of healthy living will also be promoted at the national level with a focus on obesity, cancer, heart diseases, tobacco control and other emerging or re-emerging infectious diseases.
The ministry will also try to achieve sustainability through resource optimisation, innovation and excellence by acquiring and efficiently using resources and funds, enhancing productivity and cost effectiveness, minimising wastages and rational usage of drugs and medical sundries.
On the topic of creating effective policies and regulations to ensure protection, it was stated that effective strategic policies will be revised and developed while ensuring effective enforcement of regulations.
They will also be reviewing roles and responsibilities while promoting governance that emphasises effective enforcement of policy guidelines and the Clients Charter to be more transparent in administration and communication.
It will also be more responsive to internal and external challenges and changes.
Pehin Dato Hj Suyoi said that the vision will function as a strategy map for the country to establish itself as a healthy nation. The Brunei Times
