IT'S a combination of the fold and the throw, but a well constructed craft, and plenty of practice, can book you a spot in the Guinness World Records for the longest flight of a paper aeroplane.

You'd have to beat the world record 27.6 seconds set in 1998, though, so if you're looking for someplace to start, the contest at the Seri Q-Lap Mall this April is a good bet to check out your paper aeroplane-making skills.

A spokesman for the Seri Q-Lap Mall supermarket said the contest, which was initially scheduled for March 9, would now be held on April 27.

The rules are simple: construct a plane on the spot from a piece of A4 paper and see who flies furthest from the second floor of the mall.

A contestant can register for any number of planes, but the craft must be constructed using only the piece of A4 paper, without additional aids like staples, glue or sellotape.

The spokesman said contestants could also practise their flying skills on the premises from April 20 during the preparations for the event.

Forms are available at the supermarket counter and for further information, you can call 2231738. The Brunei Times
