Crown Prince on working visit

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office yesterday made a working visit to various departments and units under the Ministry of Development.
The visit was an opportunity for the Crown Prince to scrutinise the programmes and projects of the ministry that is responsible for the country's physical infrastructure and other basic facilities. It performs roles with the goal of safeguarding people's welfare while supporting the sultanate's socio-economic development goals.
Other responsibilities include ensuring safety in industrial activity, according to international standards.
The working visit began with a speech by Minister of Development Pehin Orang Kaya Hamzah Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdullah Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Awg Hj Bakar followed by a presentation on the ministry's functions and responsibilities.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince then proceeded to sign his name on a royal parchment before receiving a Pasambah presented by the minister of development.
His Royal Highness then visited various units and sections of the ministry, such as the Financial Unit, Construction Planning and Research Unit, Research and Development Unit, Land Section and Administration and Finance Section.
At the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, His Royal Highness was given a presentation by the department's director, Hj Zakaria Hj Sarudin. The Crown Prince also viewed an exhibition on solid waste management projects, environmental awareness programmes, initiatives to reduce the use of ozone-depleting substances, and programmes on waste recycling and air quality management.
His Royal Highness then proceeded to visit the Guidance and Bumiputera Development Unit at the Trade Skills Testing and Training Centre.
The working visit concluded with Zohor prayers and lunch at the Rizqun International Hotel with officers from the ministry.
