Crown Prince books semi berth

Saturday, September 8, 2007

HIS Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, pulled off a dramatic 9-8 win over Chinese Taipei's Chang Jung Ling at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex last night to book his place in today's semi-finals of the 2007 Brunei 9-Ball Invitational Cup.

His Royal Highness will have to beat Indonesia's Ricky Yang in the semis at 5pm to qualify for the final.

Earlier Yang beat Ronato Alcano 9-6 in the quarter-finals in what has been the surprise of the tournament so far.

After a group stage match against Malaysia's Ibrahim Amir which saw the scores see-saw for the first seven racks, His Royal Highness recorded a 9-7 win to go into the last eight.

Facing the winner of the Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur editions of the 2007 Asian 9-Ball Tour in Chang in the quarter-finals, His Royal Highness was down 6-2 at one point.

Undeterred, a string of good racks saw him pull to within two frames at 8-6, and His Royal Highness would go on to win the last four racks and steal the match.

His Royal Highness will also preside over the prize-giving presentation today.
