TWO students of Chung Hwa Middle School received the prestigious Prudence Award after winning the Australian Mathematics Competition held in Australia.
Form Five Science student, Loh Sing Yee and Lim Jia Xin of Form 2A were presented with the prizes at a ceremony held recently at the Multi Purpose Hall, Student Affair Building, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
Chairman of the Working Committee of the Australian Mathematics Competition 2007, Dr Saiful Azmi, pointed out that among the main goals of the competition was to include stimulating students interest in problem solving, developing intellectual maturity and extending school curricular activities by introducing important mathematical ideas.
The Mathematics Competition also is aimed at helping students develop their personal skills and patience in doing maths, giving students objective information about their mathematical abilities and helping students prepare for university or higher education.
The regional competition was jointly organised by Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam and Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
The award is presented to those as a way to honour the highfliers who had achieved excellent results in the competition.
