BIMP-Eaga Games to be held in November

THE BIMP-Eaga Sports Council announced yesterday that the Sixth BIMP-Eaga Friendship Games will be held from Nov 28-30 and that the opening ceremony will take place at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.

The announcement was made at a technical meeting attended by BIMP-Eaga Sports Council members and officials from the Department of Youth and Sports held at the Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas yesterday.

The guest of honour at the meeting was the Permanent Secretary of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Paduka Hj Jemat Hj Ampal.

After the fifth edition of the Games held in Makassar, South Sulawesi in 2006 Brunei Darussalam was given the honour to host the Sixth BIMP-Eaga Friendship Games.

Athletes will compete in seven events during the Brunei BIMP-Eaga Games athletics, aquatic, badminton, futsal, sepak takraw, pencak silat and tennis.

The organising committee also decided yesterday that both athletics and aquatic were compulsory events for the participating teams.

The BIMP-Eaga Sports Council will hold another meeting in June in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
