UNIVERSITI Brunei Darussalam's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) will be hosting the 13th International Conference on Education from May 20 to 24, 2008.
With the theme "Evolving Pedagogies: Meeting the global challenges of diversity and interdependence" the conference will prove to be an ideal opportunity for educational professionals to network, share and reflect on new findings and approaches to teaching and learning to prepare learners for challenges, particularly in relation to diversity and interdependence. It is open to researchers, practitioners, policy makers, teachers who work hard to make a difference with developing wholesome new approaches to teaching and learning for a diverse yet interdependent world, or anybody who is simply interested in updates on education and teaching methods. The conference will table some 140 working papers focusing on improving educational outcomes spread out between 15 to 20 concurrent sessions and workshops and will involve delegates from Europe, the Americas, Asia-pacific and Africa.
According to Dr Anny Arbi from the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, 146 participants have registered for the conference as of last week.
Making keynote presentations are Professor John Furlong, the Director of the Department of Educational Studies, Oxford University; Professor Lo Mun Ling, Head of the Centre for Learning-study and School Partnership of the Hong Kong Institute of Education and Professor Debra Myhill, Head of the School of Education and Lifelong Learning of Exeter University.
