THE sultanate can be on par with other countries, through concerted focus on training locals in specific technical fields, and its implementation through practical applications.
In an interview with one of the Bridex participant's, local company AGR Brunei Sdn Bhd, Technical Manager, Nick Pavicevic, 53, said that through its participation, the company is establishing its presence to the local environment in the fields of consultancy, system integration and risk analysis.
He said, Bruneians are no different from other nationalities, they are capable, and it is through numerous training that locals can develop their technical abilities.
"I am pleased with their achievements," he said, speaking on the progress and development of Bruneians employed in the company and added that "nurturing this over the timespan of five to 10 years, only then can we have highly skilled proffessionals in this field."
"There is no reason why Brunei cannot be on par with other countries," he said and added that, success does not occur overnight, and it will take generations to develop, but Bridex is a positive cataylst for this development.
An employee, Mohd Nazhi Zalin, 28, Junior Security Consultant of AGR Brunei Sdn Bhd agreed " Bruneians can do it" on aquiring expertise in IT and security applications and added that the involvement of local companies in Bridex is to enhance their presence to the government in promoting local sourcing of services.
Established a year and a half ago, the company is an associated company of Asia Global Risk group of companies and deals with the government and private sector. A security and risk mitigation compay, it combines deep local knowledge of markets in individual countries and Asia. Through AGR Brunei, the company provides solutions which include IT security, Integrated Security Systems, Electronic Surveillance,Countermeasures, C41 Technologies, Tracking Systems, Control and Command Centre Design.
