Brunei dart team finish 2nd in Sarawak

THE KBT Brunei Dart Team emerged as runners-up in the three-man team event in the Dart Championships on Sunday at the Raggae Lounge Club in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The team, represented by Pg Mohammad Pg Matarsad, Hairul Azman Bujang and Juraini Md Yassin, left the country for Bintulu on Friday.

Cruising past the preliminary round-robin stages on Saturday, KBT Brunei Dart team went down to Club '883' 501 'A' from Bintulu, Sarawak in the final on Sunday.

Third and fourth places went to two other teams from Bintulu.

The champions received RM1,500, while KBT Brunei took home RM800.

As many as 14 teams participated in the tournament, which was held in conjunction with Malaysia's 50th Independence Day celebrations.

The Brunei darters have had a busy and promising year, which augurs well for the Brunei National Darts Association's hopes to qualify for the 2008 Asia Pacific Cup in New Zealand.

Earlier this month Brunei came in second in the men's team event at the Singapore Open.

This weekend, the Brunei darters will participate at the 27th Malaysia Open Dart Championship to be held in Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia.
